Privacy Policy

DnsEditor is a local DNS management tool. We do not collect any personal information.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. DnsEditor has no servers, no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is ever sent to us.

The only exception is Apple's own telemetry. When you download DnsEditor from the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may collect crash reports and usage statistics according to your device settings and Apple's privacy policy. We can access aggregated crash reports through App Store Connect to help fix bugs, but this data is collected and managed by Apple, not by us.

Network Connections

DnsEditor connects only to servers that you explicitly configure:

  • DNS servers — To perform zone transfers and updates using TSIG-authenticated RFC 2136 dynamic DNS
  • Zone list server — If configured, to fetch a list of available zones (optional)
  • Public DNS resolvers — To validate DNSSEC chains and verify DS records
  • SSH/TLS servers — When generating SSHFP or TLSA records, to fetch public keys or certificates

All connections are made directly from your device to the servers you specify. No data passes through our infrastructure.

Local Data Storage

DnsEditor stores your configuration data (server addresses, TSIG keys, zone lists, and preferences) locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, this data is also stored in your private iCloud account to synchronise settings across your Apple devices. This data is never transmitted to us.

Support Communications

If you contact us for support at support@dnsedit.au, any information you choose to include in your message is used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add support contacts to marketing lists or share contact information with third parties.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of DnsEditor after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
